Day 1: Arrival in Mekele – Transfer to Gheralta
Meet your guide in Mekele and begin the scenic drive to Hawzen, the gateway to the Gheralta mountains.
Visit the Abreha we Atsbeha Church, one of the largest rock-hewn churches, dating back to the 10th century.
Check in to your lodge and enjoy a relaxing evening with stunning views of the Tigray landscape.
Day 2: Climbing to Abuna Yemata Guh & Exploring Gheralta Churches
Start early for the challenging climb to Abuna Yemata Guh, one of the world’s most dramatic church locations.
Marvel at the centuries-old frescoes inside the church and enjoy panoramic views.
Continue to Maryam Korkor and Daniel Korkor, both set atop high cliffs with breathtaking scenery.
Return to your lodge for a well-earned rest.
Day 3: Additional Church Visits or Return to Mekele
If time allows, visit Debre Tsion or Medhane Alem Adi Kasho, known for their intricate carvings.
Depart for Mekele or continue your journey to another Ethiopian destination.
